About Me
Growing up half in the Middle East, and half in India, my childhood was a medley of contrasting cultures. From the most conservative of villages in south India to the modern cabarets in Thailand, my travels have lent me varied experiences, which I believe are the driving force behind my choice of a visually-centered career.
As a designer, my goal is to be the communicator that tells visual stories. My passion to create designs that speak to audience is clearly visible in all my projects, and I always try to build the voice for the idea, concept or purpose that lead to the design. People (not "users", "consumers", "audience") respond better when they feel like someone is valuing their time and experience to talk to them, even if it's through designed surfaces. My focus is designing for the human experience, and for this reason, I have tried working in internships and projects that allowed me to create UI/UX products, marketing deliverables, branding strategy, and motion graphic videos. I have a loud, clear voice, and so do my perspectives through print, digital and web design.
It is very easy to fall in love with that which you are good at, but very hard to do it right. A child of an orthodox patriarchy, I spent most of my life being trained in various forms of art: music, dance, painting, writing, etc., all of which, upon being questioned, led me to the path I'm on: visual communication. I'm of the whimsical fantasy that graphic design is an illumination of sorts, a light bulb, that shows the world what lies undiscovered in the dark, stemmed by my deep respect for the Indian Independence Era poet, Rabindranath Tagore.
